Analysis Of Vincent Van Gogh s Life - 1414 Words

Vincent van Gogh lived more than 115 years ago, and yet his artwork is still changing the way society views beauty, character, and style in art. His works are recognized all across the globe for their rich colors and his extraordinary style of painting. Those who lived in the time of Van Gogh would have preferred a realistic drawing or an abstract painting not both as one piece. Van Gogh based his art off of his life which was filled with despair, childhood troubles and mental disabilities. Despite these misfortunes he continued to follow his dream of being a successful artist. At the age of 37 Vincent’s career as an artist ended and his legacy began. Unbeknownst to him, his legacy would live on for countless years and he would go on to inspire several artists and movements. Vincent was born in Zundert, a small village in the Netherlands on March 30th, 1853 which was a year to the day his parents had a still-born son who had also been named Vincent. Vincent always felt the pressure to live up to what the deceased Vincent should have been. He often felt like he was the â€Å"replacement child.† The fact there was a grave marker with his name and birthday on it could contribute to his strange personality. He was a quiet child who showed very little interest in anything. Vincent had five younger siblings of which he was closest to his brother Theo. Most of what is known of Vincent’s thoughts and theories on art is recorded in letters exchanged between him and his brother Theo.
